The Latin Bridge, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Latin Bridge is the most known bridge over Miljacka river in Sarajevo.  It’s the place of infamous Sarajevo Assassination. Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophia were shot by Gavrilo Princip in 1914, which caused the beginning of WWI.

Behind the bridge, you see Museum Sarajevo 1878-1918.

Gazi Husrev Bey Madrassa, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

You’ll find it on Baščaršija just in front of the Gazi Husrev Bey Mosque. The entrance door is often closed, but maybe you’ll be lucky.  Gazi Husrev Bey Madrassa is the oldest surviving madrassa in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Canaries Song

I have no idea what canaries have in common with Albania but surly that’s a really nice feeling to be surrounded by them. Oh yes, they sing in their little cages, and somehow you feel more happy…

Et’hem Bey Mosque and Clock Tower, Tirana

I just want to give you an idea how they look like. I wish my picture were much better, surly without cars… unfortunately it wasn’t easy to take a shot… cars were flying from all directions, and I was so unused as it was my 1st day in Albania...

Meeting with Skanderbeg, Tirana, Albania

Gjergij Kastroti Skanderbeg was a son of the prince of Kruja, given as hostage to the sultan Murad II.
He became an Ottoman general, and twenty years later he converted to Catholicism and leaded Albanians against the Ottoman forces.

He’s the national hero of Albania. Hm… strange, if you keep in mind that Islam is the biggest religion there…

And yes, if you’ve got a moment read the Myth of Skanderbeg…
